EPCs in Buckinghamshire

Energy Performance Certificates in Buckinghamshire

As a property owner in Buckinghamshire, you may need an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for various reasons. An EPC in Buckinghamshire is required whenever a property is built, sold or rented.

If you plan to sell your property, the EPC will be used as part of the marketing process. The EPC will be part of the tenancy agreement if you rent your property.

An EPC is needed to assess the energy performance of your property. The certificate will give your property an energy efficiency rating from A (the most efficient) to G (the least efficient). The rating will be based on the building structure and any installed heating, lighting and ventilation systems.

What to expect in an EPC assessment

During the assessment, a qualified assessor will visit your property to collect data on its energy use. All heating, lighting, ventilation and hot water systems affecting your property’s energy efficiency will be inspected. They will also take photographs and measure the dimensions of each room.

The assessor takes into account the type of property, its age, the level of insulation and the materials used for its construction. All this data is input into a government-approved software program to determine the energy performance score of the building.

Once the assessment is complete, you will be given a copy of the certificate outlining recommendations for improving the energy efficiency of your property.
