According to the updated Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020, landlords need to have their property’s electrical systems inspected at least once every five years.
They’re also required to issue copies of the report to their tenants not later than 28 days after the test.
Landlords must present satisfactory reports to new tenants before their moving day. This rule will also cover current tenancies starting 1 April 2021.
